Hmmm...Dakota and Kristen definitely "seem" too young in the roles. Even though the members of the real band may not have been much older, they have a much more adult vibe.

The Runaways? They weren't relevant enough to warrant a movie to be made about them. They sucked when they were new, and now 34 years later they're just a group of hasbeens. NO...some of the stuff on there is just way to bizarre, like lizard people. I am not part of that frame of mind, just to crazy. What I am is sociologically aware of what is going on in the media and I keep up with obscure real news that does not get much time becuase it takes to many brain cells to figure out for average news intake. You just have to be mindful on what is going on around you then you can start seeing the patterns & connections everywhere. It is really scary, you wonder what happens to all those children on the front of the milk cartons..they just don't all vanish. Many end up in the child sex trade rings being conducted right under our noses by many of the people who are in "charge", elite scum. So many things get swept under the rug, and then everyone wonders why so much sex is being pushed to young women & men on ads, magazines, videos, etc. etc.. then young women are questioned and punished when then end up in pornos...it is fucking crime & no one gives a fuck for the fact that these same young women have been systematically abused by everything around them so they end up in such things, Lolita programing is everywhere, it is to the point where they don't even try to hide it anymore.

This song was written for Cherie Currie when she was not quite 16. So it's not weird for Dakota to be playing her, since she just turned 16. I think Dakota did a pretty good job with the song. No, she doesn't sound exactly like Cherie, but she still sounds good. I think the movie will be great. Dakota is an awesome little actress.

As for this? It does look like a Taylor whatever performance.

I think Ms. Fanning does a fine job and is probably the highlight of this film, if Ms. Stewart's turn in Twilight is an overall indication of her abilities as an actress.
Like Jason Gordon Levitt I think Ms. Fanning is transitioning into adult roles very well.

Yep, I have to agree, Taylor Momsen would have been perfect as Cherie. Personally, I like what little bit of Taylor's music that I've heard. I like her voice, though I can't believe that she is so young when I hear it.

I thought she did pretty good except the voice isn't as low. She looks somewhat like Cherrie Currie.

Obviously since it's a drama and not a musical, they cast an actress for the part. Casting one of today's pop stars in the role would have made the whole thing laughable and let's face it, with Kristen Stewart playing one of the leads, they're going to need all the help they can get acting wise from the rest of the cast.

am i the only person who thinks she does a horrible job? she seems to be playing dakota the rock star not cherie currie. cherie had a rough naughty fun presence. dakota seems like a serious innocent, not nailing the experienced naughty lolita that cherie was. kristen, on the other hand, seems to nail the serious tough girl joan was. people bag on kristen for her role in twilight, but she was brilliant in 'into the wild'. i think people neglect to acknowledge she is indeed a serious capable actress with lots of potential. i think she's better than dakota.

Actually, Madonna was a total fan. One of her first arguments with the music people (musicians and business men alike) who worked with her was that sugary sweet pop music was NOT the way to go. That punk and hard rock was what people were going to be after.

The Runaways were much more hard core than the movie is making them out to be. Now, I'm glad that Dakota is getting this kind of break out role (she's not a little girl anymore), but they should have just dubbed her because Cherri Currie had a much deeper voice. They weren't trying to be girls, they were trying to be rockers.
