Corey Haim's Cause Of Death Still Not Known
Corey Feldman ventured into Larry King's crypt last night to discuss Corey Haim's death and also to tell people to stop throwing the "overdose" word around. Corey F said that people need to shut their whore mouths until the results of the autopsy come back, because Corey H was in a good place at the time of his death. Corey F added that Corey H could've died of anything from kidney failure to heart failure. Well, Corey F might be right, because Corey H's mother tells Access Holllywood that the coroner gave her a "courtesy call" today to tell her that her son died of pulmonary congestion.
The coroner completed the autopsy today and found that Corey had an enlarged heart and water in his lungs.
However, TMZ is saying that an official cause of death won't be issued until the toxicology reports come back. That could take up to eight long weeks. They added that someone from the coroner's office did contact Corey's mother today, but only to tell her that Corey had an enlarged heart. They didn't give her a cause of death.
So while we're waiting for the official cause of death, let's just watch the trailer for Just One of the Girls over and over again. Just watch it on a loop for the next 8 weeks. Don't stop.

Someone's immediate cause of death can be something unrelated to their long term, chronic condition. Especially in the case of drug use, unless they find, at the time of death, high doses of some illegal substance in your body, they are not going to say you died of drugs, no matter how many years you have been abusing your body.
I find it ironic that people keep dying of legal drugs. I rarely see anyone having died and they found a wad of coke and heroin and crack around him. It is always the legal, upright prescription pills prescribed by some supposedly top notch and highly competent physician.
I tell you what they will find with Corey Haim: nothing. They will not find any illegal substances in his body in unusual doses. He probably abused his body for too long and at some point, an infection or some other average illness, killed him.

sorry, but all of these people who died recently died because of their drug abuse. maybe they didn't take drugs the night they died - but i think it's wrong to cover things up and tell they died of "natural causes". doesn't mean i miss them less, though.

Causes of an enlarged heart from the Mayo Clinic:
Sometimes, an enlarged heart develops for no apparent reason (idiopathic) but it can also be caused by a condition that can cause your heart to pump harder than usual. These conditions can include:
* High blood pressure. Having high blood pressure can make it so that your heart has to pump harder to deliver blood to the rest of your body, enlarging the muscle.
* Heart valve disease. Four valves within your heart keep blood flowing in the right direction. If the valves are damaged by such conditions as rheumatic fever, a heart defect, infections (infectious endocarditis), connective tissue disorders, certain medications or radiation treatments for cancer, your heart may enlarge.
* Weakness of the heart muscle (cardiomyopathy). Cardiomyopathy is the thickening and stiffening of heart muscle. In early stages of cardiomyopathy, you may have no symptoms. As the condition worsens, your heart may enlarge to try to pump more blood to your body.
* A heart condition you're born with (congenital heart defect). Many types of congenital heart defects may lead to an enlarged heart, as defects can affect blood flow through the heart, forcing it to pump harder.
* Abnormal heartbeat (arrhythmia). If you have an arrhythmia, your heart may not pump blood as effectively as it would if your heart rhythm were normal. The extra work your heart has to do to pump blood to your body may cause it to enlarge.
* High blood pressure in the artery connecting your heart and lungs (pulmonary hypertension). If you have pulmonary hypertension, your heart may need to pump harder to move blood between your lungs and your heart. As a result, the right side of your heart may enlarge.
* Low red blood cell count (anemia). Anemia is a condition in which there aren't enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your tissues. Left untreated, chronic anemia can lead to a rapid or irregular heartbeat. Your heart must pump more blood to make up for the lack of oxygen in the blood when you're anemic. Rarely, your heart can enlarge if you have anemia for a long time and you don't seek treatment.
* Thyroid disorders. Both an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) and an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) can lead to heart problems, including an enlarged heart.
* Excessive iron in the body (hemochromatosis). Hemochromatosis is a disorder in which your body doesn't properly use iron, causing it to build up in various organs, including your heart muscle. This can cause an enlarged left ventricle due to weakening of the heart muscle.
* Protein buildup in your heart (amyloidosis). Amyloidosis is a condition in which abnormal proteins circulate in the blood and may be deposited in the heart, interfering with your heart's function. If amyloid builds up in your heart, it can cause it to enlarge.
Yeah, he abused drugs but if you read about the last few months, he was really cleaning up. His mom's cancer really effected him. All those upcoming movies, he had plans.

Corey Haim DID look good in that last video clip of him from a few months back... best I'd ever seen him. Can an enlarged heart happen from drug use? That's what I'm curious about. It's so easy to come to easy conclusions but only time will tell. I often feel that people who have done a lot of heavy drugs and then stop and then one day take something like Nyquil can harm them because their bodies are so messed up inside.
He's dead people so let's move along, nothing to see here.

This is so sad. It was kinda heart breaking to read about him living in an apartment w/ his mom and not having a car even. He must have been very lonely. Watching a star fall like that is sobering. I think if there was some kind of parallel universe out there where he hadnt done drugs and all, he would have had a brilliant carrer and been something like the next Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp or something. He was very talented. If you seen Lucas you'd know what I mean. It is a shame it all went to waste. Thats the thing with drugs, once you start and there isnt help on time, you just spiral down until you lose yourself...

Don't jump the psycho wagon too quickly, I know someone who takes an anti-psychotic to counter the effects of adderall and someone else who takes one in conjunction with an anti-convulsant for epilepsy.
Manic could totally be on the money, but just thought I'd point taking an anti-pyschotic for reasons other than mental illness is more common then one might think.

I don't know Sushi, Price has been going down the Lohan downhill path for the past 2-3 seasons (ok not exactly comparable). But he started off as an All-Star, then keeps going steadily downhill. They have 2 great first starter goalies, who can boast that?

Idiots! Prescription drugs will kill just as well as "illicit" drugs will. Just because you get them from a doctor doesn't mean they're safe! Mixing four drugs will just speed it up. Let's take bets: oxycontin, Valium, adderall and Viagra. (couldn't think of a fourth.)

okay, back to Corey. I remembered the name when it was first reported but I thought it was Corey Hart, remember that singer? Anyway, it's sad but also intriguing seeing these celebrities who had it all (luck and success) fuck themselves over like this, over drugs and being ungrateful spoiled self-pitying brats.

What I don't understand though is why everyone who knew/loved him is so eager to declare it wasn't drugs that killed him? Why continue even after the poor man DIES with FOUR prescription bottles in his room?! At this point, wouldn't it be more logical to say, at least, that it was a real possibility that drugs contributed to his death?
