If you've got about 65-hours to kill and have already done way more important things like (don't click on that) playing your goat bagpipes, then hit play above to watch the long ass video for "Telephone" starring The Tuck Master (aka Lady GaGa) and The Wig Whisperer (aka Beyonce). Brace yourself, because Beyonce's acting will melt the glue in your weave.

Better yet, skip the video and just put a half tab of acid under your tongue and watch a marathon of Freeway, Thelma & Louise, Kill Bill and Changed Heat while eating a Miracle Whip sandwich.

I love Gaga, I love the music, and Beyoncé is ok !!!

Also, in order to be truly shocking, doesn't that qualify being less predictable?

It's pretty sad when your least "artsy" videos are the most spontaneous than the rest of your stunts. Since releasing "Paparazzi", all of GaGa's stunts included the same formula: awkward makeouts, dead people, and some violence to a certain extent.

Ooooh, shocker.

What frustrates the SHIT out of me is that people keep hailing Gaga as some sort of second coming of pop; as some quirky genius. Dear lord, her lyrics are BEYOND mind-numbingly stupid ("Ra-ra-ah-ah-ah; Roma-roma-mama; Ga-ga-ooh-la-law; want your bad romance" "My telephone! M-m-my telephone! Cuz I'm out in the club, and I'm sippin that bubb, and you're not gonna reach my telephone!"). Not to mention the songs are melodically repetitive and boring. Her videos and clothing, which people seem to love to call "art", are basically trying to be as weird as possible, without any attention paid to beauty or story or logic.

It's not that I hate Gaga's music. I grew up with Britney Spears and N'Sync and LIKED THEM despite how bland and pop-ish they were. At least they didn't pretend to be creative geniuses while singing and doing what everyone else was singing and doing. They embraced their mainstream pop images. Nothing GaGa does is any different. Look at RiRi and Beyonce and Kanye and everyone else - avant garde IS the new mainstream. GaGa just takes it the farthest. IMO, nothing about her is original or interesting or reeks of talent. It's POP, it's mainstream, and it's STUPID.

My problem is that if everyone embraces her like she's talented and artistic and deep, what does that say about our culture? What happens to beautiful lyrics, actual depth, innovation, real talent? It worries me.

Just get down and do some fisting anal in your next video - break down all the barriers for your Tween fans.

I admit that this video and everything else Gaga does is a rip off from someone else before her. I like her music and think she has talent but I really wish she'd stop with the gimicks and pushing the "shock" value which isn't that shocking in this day in age.

Next album to really shock people Stephanien go with your birth name dress like a regular person and just sing. That would be a truly shocking surprise.

What's with the metal community having its head up Lady Gaga's ass?

I'm like the only heavy metal fan left who isn't showering Lady CaCa with praise. I guess all the limp wristed hesher tools need something to jack off to as well.

This genre bought you bands like Iron Maiden, who write lyrics about mythology, history, and philosophy. I know that I briefly subscribed to GaGa's hype slightly last year, but I got over it. I never believed that lyrically, musically, or creatively did Gaga compete with the theatrics of metal.

I'm just annoyed by a specific demographic that arbitrarily disregards Metallica as a metal band because The Black Album was "too commercial" or slower than their previous albums, yet they welcome this nubile piece of ass with open arms?

Nice to know that if any vacant pop star who writes vacant pop music, that all the metalheads would approve of them for being just slightly more "morbid" in dress than Britney Spears, while still essentially revealing no less than Spears had. I guess standards have lowered for every fanbase of every genre, because there's no chance in hell this little bimbo is on the same level as Iron Maiden. Fuck no.

Yeah we all want Madonna of the 80s. I do too. But wasn't Madonna the product of the sex symbols of the 60s and 70s. Marylyn, Brigitte Bardot, Debbie Harry, Wharhol...And Michael Jackson was a product of the monarchy. Self proclaimed but his style or look was from the military and royalty. GaGa is the product of 25 – 30 years of Madonna and everything else that followed. As crazy as it may be I refuse to be my dad when I tripped on Madonna and Culture Club...that’s being judgemental!

Let's see...in just this particular video she has "homaged": "Reform School Girls", "Born Innocent", "Kill Bill", "Easy Rider", "Natural Born Killers", "Liquid Sky", "Freeway" and "Thelma and Louise".

And people still say she's an original???

gallerygirla's picture

What in the name of Quentin Tarantino hell was that?

I'm pretty much convinced Gaga adopted her avant garde schtick because she is far too ugly to be successful in the genre of music she is working in. She is like Gwen Stefani's really horsey looking sister.

And I (almost) feel sorry for Beyonce that she has to join in the crapfest in order to stay relevant.

Never mind the 90's - the first rap I know of is from the sixties and it's called Whitey on the Moon. In my mind - until the movie Colors came out - rap was all about social consciousness. An I think Colors came out in the 80s.

One more thought and then I'm done being a crotchety, grouchy old memaw - Remember, in the 90s, there seemed to be a huge influx of socially-conscious themes in pop and rap music? And, at the same time, rock was going through the grunge thing, which, while depressing, was really very interesting? How did we go from rapping about the way women are treated and poverty and singing poetically about how futile life is to "Roma-roma-mama; Ga-ga-ooh-la-law"? It SERIOUSLY depresses me. Please, somebody point out some legitimately good, new mainstream music to me. Otherwise, I'm going to keep locking myself away in my room with my dated ipod playist.

Look, I'm not saying I have any beef with pop music, per say. I just want pop artists to be honest about what they're selling.

As for Madonna, I dislike her to the point where I can no longer listen to even her 80s stuff, but I will admit when she first debuted, her style and videos and lyrics WERE controversial and envelope-pushing, at least for mainstream music. Nobody mainstream at that point had been so blunt about rejecting Christian values, etc. So at least she brought SOMETHING to the table (whether or not it was a good thing is another story). But today, we have celebrities walking around on red carpets in what is essentially lingerie, and shows like Jersey Shore exist, so a lot of the sexual/moral taboos no longer exist. Hence, this Gaga video doesn't really stir up controversy or make any impact on pop culture. I'd NEVER claim that Madonna produced the best music ever, but at least her lyrics consisted of actual words (hey, sometimes her lyrics even had legitimate messages, e.g., Papa Don't Preach; Live to Tell) versus baby-babbling, and her music was melodic and interesting, if poppy.

Maybe I am old, but this is boring and dated. Snoozefest and did anyone notice all the product placements? Wonderbread, Virgin Mobile, Plenty of Fish, etc. Madonna never had product placement back in the '80s.

Speaking of Madonna, anyone see her on the marriage rep? Geez, you know you are old when Madonna starts crossing her legs and acting like a granny. It was too weird to watch.

Co-sign. The fact of the matter is that type of music is all but a distant memory and we will never get it again. We lost it a long time ago. And, if gaga is what children should look up to to feel courage and empowered, we are worse off than I thought. My god, what the hell are parents for?

OMFG, just when I was getting on the gaga train, she had to go pull something like this. How do you go from the lyrics in BR to the ABC lyrics in this shit fest? Why, gaga? People really need to stop with this, 'she is so epic, original, blah blah, blah.' There is nothing original about what gaga is doing. Goggle roisin murphy. She is not the first entertainer to wear wacky outfits and do over the top shit. Hell, drag queens have been doing this for yrs and if you have ever been to a drag show, you know what I mean. And, sorry, but when you conform to the pressures of society, you are not sending a big FU to anybody. Gaga is just another pop star that has been manipulated into a worldwide money making machine. And, this dumb ass song proves just that. She started too over the top. Where will she go from here? How long will it take before ppl get sick to death of her. She has the talent to do real music but she won't because making money off of shitty songs is way more important.

Oh, and I think we all have too much time on our hands considering the fact we are on a celebrity blog site.

"My problem is that if everyone embraces her like she's talented and artistic and deep, what does that say about our culture? What happens to beautiful lyrics, actual depth, innovation, real talent? It worries me."

You realize people were asking these very same questions back in 1985 when Madonna was on the rise, right? Madonna used to say in interviews that all the cheap polemic she created was just her "artistic freedom and expression". Madonna has been claiming to be artistic and avant-garde for ages, it doesn't make her so. And it didn't mean art and real talent vanished from the world either. Music doesn't die just because someone decides to say their pop shit is "art". Is anyone saying Lady Gaga is deep? What it says about our culture is: it's not so hard to stand out in mainstream music when you have acts like Britney Spears and Pussycat Dolls to compete with. Just be a tad more intelligent and you're there.

This whole talk reminds me of Lester Bangs, who in the 70s used to say David Bowie was a talentless cunt who only sucked from the real artists (Lou Reed, Brian Eno), made their themes more palatable for the masses and was hailed as the new messiah. It happens over and over again, and guess what, sometimes the "talentless cunts" actually prove themselves in the end.

I like Lady Gaga, although I think she is a sell-out. I hope she will go into berserk mode now that she's got the fame she wanted and come up with a real record of real music one day. Maybe, when her fans grow older, and she grows older, they will all move to a new dimension. She can sing and play quite well and she's proved this many times, so not all is lost. Right now, I think she does a real good service to the gay boys out there. Marketing or not, I think she is actually empowering these kids and giving them pride and courage, and I like her for that.

She's not telling the music industry to fuck off.
She's not trying to do anything special.
Trying to do something special is a death knell in this industry.
She's trying to be a pop star.
Pop stars don't aim themselves at grown people - they aim themselves at children; that's why the music is childish. How many children do you see clamoring to get at classical music or jazz? It's just too sophisticated and, quite frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that.

YOU may be able to sit there and say she's not doing anything so special or original but the fact is that CHILDREN don't KNOW about any of that stuff. It looks new to them and as they grow (hopefully) they'll see from where she bit it and be able to make personal connections.

Lady Gaga *tries* to be fucking different, yet her shit music is just like any other Britney songs and other bubblegum shit songs.

I know that you can't write every single song to be deep and witty, but that hack can't even make one. And don't say, little shitheads, that Speechless is some deep shit because it's a pitiful attempt to make a decent ballad but failing all the way.

i do admire your passion. reminds me of years ago when Avril Lavigne called Davie Bowie, David Booowie. oh, she got ripped for that. and the dumb twat just shrugged it off like whatever. people think everything is new and daring, when it's been done before and better. I don't knock Gaga for wanting to be different, but it's like getting hit over the head with a hammer. we get it, we get it...you're edgy, avant-garde, blah blah blah. personally i think her songs are catchy and sometimes you just want to dance to some mindless pop music. nothing wrong with that but it's not monumental or industry-changing and with that you are spot on.

the music industry has problems indeed. which is one of the reasons I turned down a job that was offered to me at Universal 2 years ago. i kind of regret now, just because I really hate my current job and at least i would be around music everyday. but things are so unstable in the music industry right now (due to their own making) that it just seemed a risky move.

What's with Gaga's thing for poisoning people and getting arrested (Paparazzi and now this)? And Beyonce running from the law on some car yet again (Bonnie & Clyde whatever song that was with Jay-Z)?? WTF.

And product placement (Virgin Mobile and Miracle Whip, those were the ones I caught on to)... and B's shitty acting... Wow. Was she that bad in Dreamgirls?? Cause I did not watch that shit but I remember she got nominated for a bunch of awards??? I'm confused!!!!
