I don't think the mind control is intentional. The music industry has a ridiculously small number of producers who work on all the records. If you check album notes, it's so depressing how the same people make everything. And these people have hit formulas down, like what pattern of the beats to use (I don't know that much music theory :P) for an instant hook and whatnot. Gaga songs are so addictive it's creepy, so I definitely think there's a certain "science" behind it, and it's not so much taking control over the world, but just making money by pushing addictive crap. Just more advertising, really. And Beyonce I think has the formula down also. And Britney still has good singles. It's just the way pop music rolls.

I think there should be more regulation of advertising. Subliminal advertising was banned in 1958 but marketing execs are resourceful. What concerns me more than music is corporate manipulation of our political system. During the past 30+ years of republican domination, our court system and public offices have become overrun by anti-regulation/pro-big business fanatics allowing open season on consumers.
Example: recent Supreme Court decision, Citizens United vs. the Federal Election Commission, allows corporations to contribute unlimited amounts of money to election campaigns, run ads, and basically buy elections at any level.

I've visited the site. I've only skimmed the comments but there seems to be a pretty lively debate between those who agree and those who disagree. I don't think Vigilant edits the comment section at all. So, I conclude people are free to make whatever they will of his essays.
Say what you will, but his Denver Airport essay was awesome. That damn mural was creepy as fuck. Either someone has exceptionally bad taste or something more sinister was being telegraphed to the masses. Who wants to see dead kids in coffins and military men in gas masks right before getting on a damn plane??? That isn't exactly relaxing viewing and taking a flight is enough of a nerve jangling hassle as it is.
