I guess Kim Kardassian thinks she knows how to handle a black pussy too....but Peta does not agree. Peta got on Kim's double down ass after she Tweeted this picture from a photo shoot in Australia. Peta said this in a statement:
“Kim Kardashian isn’t the only person who mistakenly thinks that because a mother cat picks up her kittens by the scruff of the neck that a supportive hand under the rump isn’t needed."
Kim responded on her blog with this shit:
"I have been getting negative comments regarding the way I was holding the kitty, but rest assured, the owner and vet were on set and showed me how to pick him up. The cat was not harmed in any way and is perfectly fine! I love animals and would never do anything to harm any animals."
Never harm animals? Kim, tell that to the poor horse that was scalped for your weave.
Frankly, the only statement I care to read is one from that cat. That cat needs to explain to us why it didn't take a scratch at Kim's face when it had a clear shot! Way to disappoint an entire people!

I hate this useless skank, but the cat looks like it is OK. I have picked up kittens by the scruff of their necks before but never held them dangling like that.
I have never picked up a full-grown cat that way, however. They seem too heavy, IMO, to do that comfortably.

Pardon me for to trying to reverse an assumption of mine, that apparently turned out to be correct. I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong and I thought perhaps your red wig comment was an attempt to lighten things up but I took it all the wrong way. I felt bad about that possibility after I posted my reply. I thought it was possible I missed the intention and gave a knee-jerk reaction. In the spirit of harmony on 4/20, I wrote you to sincerely ask how that comment was intended but I guess I have my answer so, I will stick with my original reply.
I am sorry that someone who stops your spread of misinformation, based on your ehow.com knowledge base, rubs you the wrong way so badly. I've been on here before and have even had pleasant conversations with you in the past so your flippant and irreverent attitude came as somewhat of a shock. I am not pushy about many things on here but animal care, health and behavior is something I know inside out. In case you missed it earlier, I'll be the broken record and repeat to you that I have a post-graduate education (I earned a BS in Biology and Chemistry prior to my vet studies) in veterinary technician services and am licensed in the state of NY to work as a Vet Tech. I also have taken the required continuing education and can also rightfully call myself a Cat Behaviorist. I have much professional knowledge about cats and other pets as I worked as the Senior vet tech at a CT animal hospital for a significant period of time. That hospital treats cats, dogs, birds, reptiles and rodents. You read ehow.com.
I resent people who act as if they are an expert on a topic they on did a google search on, minutes prior to posting their profound conclusions. What you post amuses you and probably others but you do a grave disservice to the pets out there that will be affected by Kim's use of a cat as a photo prop and the validation that it is fine by people such as yourself. If it makes me look like a bitch to state over and over that scruffing a cat without knowing how to properly perform the action and without supporting the cat from the bottom, then so be it. I can't abide by your many posted remarks that the cat likes it or that they way Kim performed the scruffing is fine. There will be idiots out there who try to replicate this photo of hers and they will do it improperly, resulting in the injury of the cats and/or themselves. They will do this because you, and others like you, think it is funny to stir the pot with your particular brand of comedy. I don't give a shit if the people get hurt when copying Kim's actions but the cats involved don't have much of a choice so I advocate for them. I would do the same for any other species of animal, in a similar situation. I know dogs don't get scruffed so no need to get all technical with me on that, in reply. People who know no better and/or look up to her, think she's cool, wanna be like her, etc. will now replicate this g-ddamned pose and they WILL hurt cats in the process. Luckily, the cats that will be hurt will hopefully scratch some eyes out of dumb asses everywhere. With a lot of luck, the cats will only be temporarily in pain.
Going limp and not struggling IS NOT THE SAME AS LIKING IT!! It is instinctual for them to go limp when scruffed and that is why it is done, to corral an upset or angry cat, not to give them a jolly. Mother cats stop carrying their kittens like this at about 3 months, give or take, depending on the weight of the cat because once the cat gets to a certain weight it is NOT OK to scruff them without bottom support. That is the whole issue here is BOTTOM SUPPORT for a cat this size. I'll shout it from the rooftops until you bitches get it through your dense fucking heads! One google search and one page of fucking ehow.com and all of a sudden everyone's a fucking expert.

As I look at it, I think its a great photo. Great publicity for her as well--all one has to do is pick up a cat by the scruff of the neck, and let PETA promote you as they promote themselves.
For those who never had a cat, the mom cat bites the scruff of the neck and carries the kittens around that way. By instinct, the cat or kitten becomes completely passive when picked up by the scruff.
Note Kim has some leather armletts that would provide some protection should the scruff passivizing fail.

Kittens don't weigh very much while cats do. Think about all that cat weight hanging just from the scruff....ouch, uncomfortable. I'm going to hazard a guess that nature only intended for kittens to be held this way, not adult cats. Even adult cats have this handle, you can firmly grip the loose skin of the back of the cat's neck and lift. Get the cat off her feet fast when you do this. I wish that was the end of my rant but I guess it wasn't. The cat doesn't "like" being held that way. It is instinctual to go limp and relaxed when scruffed correctly. Don't mistake that for "like" though. Cats DO NOT like it when they are vulnerable and not able to escape. They hate feeling trapped and scruffing makes them feel completely at the human's mercy.
Since when is ehow the authority on cat health, handling and behavior? I go to ehow when I need to learn how to unclog a sink or change a vacuum cleaner belt. Animals aren't so "follow-the-instructions". There is a lot of sizing up the cat to see how it will handle being held that way and knowing the cat's personality. You don't have to believe I am the authority if you don't want to...clearly it seems you don't see me that way...but for goodness sake, don't revere ehow as the end all be all of animal care.
