Programming Note
So for the next few days I'll be filling my body with the sweet nectar from a foreign land and charbroiling my nalgas in more ways than one. Because of this, posting will be lighter than usual. The hotel swears on a pair of lucite heels (yes, I sent them a pair of lucite heels and made them swear on them) that their wifi is fast so I'll still be posting ginges and chichis every day. Things will go back to normal on Monday.

Are you kidding about Cate Blanchett's versatility? You obviously have only seen her big Hollywood movies. Unless you mean that she's not versatile because she doesn't play "hot chick" roles and really can't, but that's boring as hell and a dime a dozen anyway.

Nobody said she couldn't be versatile. I just said she happens to play the same general character repeatedly. And a good look at her IMDB profile shows me that the majority of her roles in the last ten years *have* been pretty high-profile movies. Anyway, I like Cate Blanchett relatively well--it just gets annoying that everyone talks about her like some kind of goddess. I haven't yet see her do anything with a character like, say, from "Happy-Go-Lucky", which I think would be interesting to see her do. Nevertheless, quite honestly, no I have not seen every movie she's made.
And seriously, it was stupid to assume that just because someone was critiquing the "Great Cate" that we must be whining that she never wears bikinis.

She does need variety, but I think agents/casting directors/directors typecast so much, and it's so hard to make it as an actress as it is, that it might be hard for her to be versatile if she's trying. Tilda is another one, but her physicality makes it hard to believe her as vulnerable. I'm watching this movie called "Julia" in which she's supposed to be a slutty woman, and it's been hard to surpass her stronger features and her height. So point being, physicality can make certain roles inaccessible even to the audience.
And someone who I think should play more vulnerable roles is DiCaprio. To me he seems like he overreaches for masculinity, when his best roles have been the ones in the Departed and his older stuff, in which he played vulnerable characters.

I really love Cate Blanchett and I believe she is a great actress. You make a good point, she does pretty much play purely dramatic roles where her character overcomes and deals with tribulations. It kinda makes you wonder how versatile an actress she is. Maybe it is time she mixed it up and chose a different type of role.

On the other relevant topic, I don't hate Zooey Deschanel, but I'm pretty ambivalent about her. I think she's usually an incredibly bland actress (despite the fact that I loved "500 Days") and pretty much comes off as the exact same character in every movie she does.

I'm pretty sure my dog ate some of her poop today, but I still have no problem lovin' on her... just nowhere near her mouth, and after I get done cursing at her for crapping on the floor. Bulldogs are so cute. I wouldn't mind having one.
