Gary Coleman Has Died
And we all fall into Mr. Drummond's arms. TMZ says that Gary Coleman has passed away at the age of 42. Now he's up in heaven saying, "Watchu talking 'bout, angels?"
Gary was admitted into the hospital on Wednesday after he fell on his head and suffered a brain hemorrhage. Doctors had hope for Gary until he slipped into a coma yesterday afternoon. Gary's manager said he was then put on life support. Gary's wife Shannon made the decision to pull him off of life support today. Gary was surrounded by his family and friends when he was pronounced dead at 12:05pm in Utah.
May Gary finally rest in peace with Kimberly Drummond and Abraham the fish.

Really gutted to hear this news. God bless you, Gary. I'll always have love for you. I hope you are at peace, wherever you are.

I like living this way. I like loving this way.
You have bought me hours of entertainment over the past thirty years.

RIP Gary, didn't realize he was from where the nuclear power plant was.
Speaking of his wife...where exactly was she when Gary had his "accident?"
I hope this wasn't the result of some sort of domstic incident
RIP
I remember watching him with his wife on Divorce Court. He was a loud/fiery person. He didn't want kids :(. Too bad there are no little Gary Coleman's running around.
RIP Gary Coleman, you feisty little tyke - the world just got that much more boring now that you're gone...

I can't help but think that if he had been able to let go of his anger, and of the idea that he should forever be effortlessly wealthy and adored and a star, he could have had a fulfilling life as an adult, doing...whatever he chose to do. There have been child stars who grow up and leave the entertainment business and are successful and happy living lives without fame or big bucks.
Just because someone is an actor, even a "star" on a hit show, doesn't mean they should have, or are entitled to, a successful career as an actor for the rest of their lives. For every Jodie Foster there must be a hundred Gary Colemans.
He never grew up physically or emotionally. It is very sad that he died so young and his health problems his whole life were terrible I'm sure, but a lot of his other problems he brought on himself. Same goes for his TV brother and sister on 'Different Strokes'.

Not to defend the awful-sounding wife, but if everyone who thinks she "pulled the plug" too quickly will think back on it, Natasha Richardson was gone in just as short an amount of time.
********************************************
Agreed. Not to mention that we all know a thing or two about Gary. What I think is he told her: "If it gets bad, pull it. I've been through enough shit already."

Anybody hear anything about how he "Fell"?
I think Humptey was pushed.
Not to defend the awful-sounding wife, but if everyone who thinks she "pulled the plug" too quickly will think back on it, Natasha Richardson was gone in just as short an amount of time. And she was kept alive to be an organ donor. I doubt Gary Coleman would have been a suitable donor, having had heart issues, pneumonia, life-long kidney problems which I'm sure necessitated lots of medication to hit his liver, etc. Natasha went from fully lucid to gone in less than 2 days, and I'm sure a day of that was a day for arranging the organ donations.
The purpose of a living will used to be to prevent extraordinary measures, such as life support. These days, it makes more sense to have a medical power of attorney naming someone you trust, rather than leaving the decision to "next of kin," which is usually a spouse, whose motives might be suspect.

Did they make the Grime Ripper redundant and outsource his job to some third world country due to the recession cos I wanna know why Hohan is still alive!!! At this rate I might just have to take up an apprenticeship and kill her myself!
RIP Gary.

LOLOL@apprenticeship... Yeah, it certainly does not seem fair does it.
I hope little Gary has found what he needed in the afterlife, because life on earth was pretty crappy for him.
Ocarina: I am soooo with you on this.
What a tragic end to a sad life. Poor Gary.
RIP! :(
His horrible parents screwed up his life. If they hadn't robbed him blind, maybe he could have lived comfortably off those child star bucks. Instead he had to endure the mockery of people who remembered him from his superstar days, but saw him doing crappy jobs to get by. And that wife!--I don't even know what to say about her.
RIP Gary.
Your parents let you down and you certainly encountered obstacles in your short (pun intended, but not in a mean manner) life, RIP.
The only thing I remember from the show is a single line from the father to Gary: "If I catch you smoking again there'll be more than 2 smoking butts around here!"
I can never forget the bicycle man episode, where Arnold & his friend Dudley almost got molested by the bicycle shop man.
Parts of the story line "However, they both returned to Mr. Horton's shop a day or two later. Mr. Horton gave the young boys pie and showed them a pornographic cartoon called "Murphy the Mouse." Arnold didn't feel comfortable and decided to go home, leaving Dudley with Mr. Horton. After Arnold left, Mr. Horton told Dudley that they should play a game called "Neptune: King of the Sea" in the bathtub.
When Arnold arrived at home, he ran into Dudley's father who was at the Drummond residence asking Mr. Drummond not to give Dudley any more wine. Arnold told everyone where Dudley was and Mr. Drummond called the police and then sped over to Mr. Horton's bicycle shop. Upon arriving at the bicycle shop, the police arrested Mr. Horton and found Dudley in the bathroom with his shirt off. Dudley had apparently taken some pills and was about to get molested by Mr. Horton. Dudley's father later showed up, but didn't seem too concerned that Dudley had almost been molested."
OMG too much
What a lovely and now poignant picture. I just watched the Married With Children episode he was in last night. I used to enjoy Diff'rent Strokes here in New Zealand as a child. His latter years were marred by illness and other problems but I will remember the greatness of his youth.
So Gloria Alred's nasty cunt Daughter, Lisa Bloom should feel like shit for being so publicly nasty to Gary in his last interview.
@TrashyWilma: To be honest, they've made me totally paranoid about it!

Wow. Didn't take her long. His wife must've had a really difficult emotional decision to make between going to the waiting room vending machine to get a Snapple and stuffing mini bottles of dry shampoo from the nurse's station into her purse. "Plug? I don't know, whatever." Bitch.
Hope there's someone to love you in the afterlife, little dude.
Poor Gary - I wish life could have been better for you. RIP

48 hours, DAMN

EvilShoe you got me thinking
That picture of him with the dog almost made me cry. RIP Gary Coleman.
Poor little man never had a chance in that industry and with those parents. It's as if he died from his victimhood - very sad.
Did he fall as the result of another domestic altercation? Poor guy, parents ripped him off for most of his money, resulting in him being reduced to menial jobs and lots of anger and disappointment. Marries a woman who won't sleep with him, and then he dies. Life can be very unfair. RIP and may the next life be better to him than this one was.

So, wait... he was only in a coma for like 48 hours?
I think the wife pulled the plug awful darn quick. I know holding out for years rarely (but sometimes) ever results in someone coming back, but come on, give him a week or two just in case...
---------------------------------
I haven't read all the comments... so don't know how many others pointed this out... but that's the first thing that went through my mind about it. It seems like an awfully fast plug pull.

I don't even feel like being funny. So sad. I really mean this: this is sad. Rest in peace, Mr. Coleman. (I feel sad about this. Poor guy.)
42 is way to soon. Rest in peace.

I guess that whole "death happens in three's" thing is no joke...first Ronnie James Dio, then Art Linkletter and now Arnold.

Ah that's too bad, maybe he has some peace now.
I can't help but think it appears to be pretty hasty to pull the plug on the guy after only one day. Maybe the docs told his wife there was no hope.
RIP Gary.
Poor guy and such a hard life. I hope he finds peace in an itty bitty heaven.

This news gave me the sads. He had a hard life which might have crushed many of us. RIP Gary, hope you're in a better place.
You are so right. In my lottery fantasies, Gary Coleman is the only stranger whom I would set up for life (paid for home, car, insurance, and healthcare). I have always felt so, so sorry for him. I think I would be much more of a crank and an asshole than he turned out to be (or I am now, for that matter), had I been as sickly and exploited as he was throughout my youth.
Glad he's out of his misery. I hope his adoptive parents rot.

He had a tough life dealing with all the snickering and snarkiness. Good night Gary, may you rest in peace.

RIP Gary. May you know peace now.
She didn't even wait 24 hours until she pulled the plug, did she? Why am I not surprised?
I was in Culver's much earlier today when I heard the news. Some lady who works there (maybe 45 years old) was totally FREAKING OUT!
