eating animals is okay by me, but only if the animal had somewhat of a natural or decent life.

personally, i don't eat meat. i do have some friends whose parentals raise their own chickens and ducks for eggs and meat, and i wouldn't be opposed to that because they aren't stuck in little cages their entire lives/force fed/have their beaks and claws forcibly removed as chicks/disposed of alive as chicks if they're the wrong sex/filled with hormones/covered in feces..etc etc

I can assure you that the farms and slaughterhouses in which we keep our cattle are nothing compared to the gruesome conditions you encounter on fur farms or when you watch an animal chase where a little creatures head is smashed in with steel toed boots so someone can adorn their corpses with them. I am not saying the situation in our slaughterhouses are nice and fuzzy for the cattle, but they are much better than what's going on on fur farms.

Honestly, no one needs fur. Aside from it just looking tacky and pimp-ish, it really is a practice that comes at an unacceptable cost.

I live in SoCal and I can assure you if i ever run into someone with a fur coat, I will spray paint it. This is something I am actually ok with going to jail for. Too bad someone feels that wearing the fur of a tortured animal on their liposucked asses and silicone tits is somehow their belonging that I or anyone needs to respect. They never had any right to it in the first place.

Amen! The ASPCA is great. They are the ones that do the dirty work and aren't non-profit versions of celeb whores. They claim they do all this crazy stuff to draw attention/awareness to their cause, but all they do is create more divisiveness.I have never heard anyone say "when PETA gave Obama shit for swatting a fly, I decided to opne the windows and let flies deposit fecal matter on my food and skin since I now am moved not to swat them."

I would rather donate to the ASPCA or local animal rescues than PETA.

There is a difference between respecting a PERSON and respecting that person's opinion. You can think my opinion is stupid, wrong, etc., just like I can think the same of yours. But once you resort to calling the PERSON names because of what they believe, you've crossed the line. It certainly isn't going to win anyone over to your way of thinking. Neither is destroying property.

I only posted on this in the first place to express my disgust of PETA's methods. I think that their name -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals -- is a noble cause. However, rather than actually DOING anything to further this cause, they destroy property and harass people. There are other animal-rights groups (the ASPCA and Humane Society come to mind) that use their resources to promote animal well-being -- funding no-kill shelters, spaying/neutering, etc. PETA drives people away from a noble cause with its tactics, much as you drive people away from your stance by hurling personal insults.

I know we all know what goes on in fur farms but if we know what cows, sheep, chicken, pigs etc really go through, we'd know that both kind of "farming" are actually very similar.

I live my own life quietly but I do know that a vegetarian life with no animals for clothing or shoes is the right thing for me.
