Quiet late here in posting BUT the eldest Smith kid, the one from previous relationship is DAMN HOT!! That kid needs to be in movies NOW !!!
I will not hate on the kids (hey, they're just kids) but i will say this... they look like typical Hollywood Brats!
As for the movie, Hollywood needs to leave the 80s ALONE! There was nothing wrong with the original and it didn't need a remake. I can still watch the original today and enjoy it as much as i did when i watched it for the 1st time.
I LOVE Jackie Chan but this movie is a mistake! And if they wanted to change cultures here, from japanese to chinese, then they should've named it THE KUNG-FU KID!

thats pretty amazing for a 9yro (going on 16). most of us were goofy unhot messes at 9 (running clumsily to the Mr. Softee truck all sweaty and dirty holding 75 cents for a fucking 'firecracker' icepop or whatever), so kudos for pulling it off w/ some semblence of mature 'internal confidence/style'. his son's got is own 'attittude' down pat also. talk about growing up quick.

At least the original Karate Kid was believable, with the moves, etc. Bet your ass this one had Jaden suspended in some unrealistic hovering in mid air for eternity, 360 kick that only comes out of Jet Li movies.

Agreed. I also don't think the casting is realistic. Ralph Macchio wasn't a big kid and that was kind of the point, but a strong wind could probably knock this little dude down. I mean he looks so tiny next to Jackie Chan.

Besides, they already "remade" Karate Kid with Hilary Swank. Girl has 2 Oscars and couldn't make it work, so I don't have high hopes for this. I think I'll rent Part II instead, that was always my favorite of the 3 originals.

Oh, god, I KNOW, right? The original is one of my all-time top-ten, ever since my male parental unit sat me down to watch it when I was 12 (one of his all-time favourites, too). It's seriously one of the best movies ever MADE, and even though I hate remakes on principle (if it was good enough to make somebody WANT to do it again, then it was done right the FIRST time), I wanted to see this one, out of curiosity and to compare. I couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes any of the three times I tried. Never mind OUT, that kid can't act his way IN to a paper bag.

I agree. Paul McCartney is, was and has always been overrated. Yoko Ono had it right on when she said he only 'writes ditties'. Most if not all of those 'Wings' songs were fucking awful.

I am not one to hate on children but every.single.fuckin.time I set down to watch a movie and Will Smith's kid's in it, I have to endure at least one 'that kid can't act' comment. Now, I totally agree. That kid CAN'T act. And he pretty much stinks up every scene he's in. And another thing - I get the distinct impression that scenes are written into otherwise decent movies just for him and those 'otherwise decent movies' would do just fine without him thank you very much. I'm not one to hate on children btw but the 'Karate Kid' remake was totally unnecessary. I don't know anyone who'll see it. All about the money.

This is what happens when children grow up being told how wonderful and great they are, that even when they take a shit it is the most beautiful and amazing thing ever and never do they have to endure even a single uncomfortable moment lest it damage their self-esteem.
