You can usually find Alice Tan Ridley, the mother of Gabourey Sidibe, singing for dollars down in the NYC subway. And by "you" I mean not me, because I've tried to find her ass down there several times to no avail. The only subway performers I usually run into are those damn breakdancers who bust their shit in the aisles of the train and nearly kick my nose off every time when their legs go flying through the air. I just want to stab them in the culo with my walker. Anyways, I'm digressing all over your retinas again....
So Alice Tan Ridley auditioned for America's Got Talent last night, and she sang until the tips of Mimi's moustache singed right off. Analog TVs dropped into apartment stairwells and Alice kept on singing. Mo'Nique nearly slapped her up side the hide for not pulling the hairs out of her pig's feet, but Alice didn't stop.
I vote that Alice goes all the way. And not because she can sang, but because she might be the only person in this country (besides child beauty queens) who still sleeps with pink foam rollers in her hair.

Ya, the people I know who worked on it had fun and talked about what a great experience it was that I forgot it was a scary movie, lol. I took a horror film theory class. I don't like horror movies, but I needed another 400 level theory class and it was the only one offered that I hadn't taken that semester. I had a hard time sitting through these, but that was a whole category, the "middle of nowhere, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide" types like TCM. My stupid prof thought it was really funny to scream at the most intense parts, too. The class was pretty interesting, though.

You should rent "Surveillance" then. The acting is good, and Lynch really develops her story and pacing. I don't want to oversell it, but really, she did a good job with this movie. Also, nice to hear that she was nice. So many celebs are such pricks.
I'm one of those people who find bucolic settings creepy because I think that no one can hear me scream. Show me beautiful woods, and I'm thinking of those cave people from "The Descent." Show me an old farm house, and I'm thinking Leatherface and his family (Hooper's "TCM" is a masterpiece, hands down).
By the way, I love horror movies.

M.E., I know it pisses you off but if you could try to shrug it off (it isn't ANY reflection on you at all - everyone knows it isn't you), then you can see a lot of it is comedy gold. I rented it from Netflix. I was a little hesitant because it's Jennifer Lynch directing (remember that stinker "Boxing Helena"), but she's since improved. It has the stamp of her dad, too, and she captures the creepiness of desolate, American roads. Great cast: Bill Pullman, Julia Ormond, Michaeal Ironside ("Scanners"), Cheri Oteri (as you've never seen her), and French Stewart (as we've definitely never seen).
Haha, they filmed that here in Bumfuck. Funny you say it's so creepy, I have a friend who worked on it and said Jennifer Lynch was awesome to work with and the whole crew loved her. She was always cheering people on and huggin them in between takes.

Great films...I've seen them many times...these days I mainly concentrate on Hitchcock films or old musicals with Gene and Fred.
Or foreign films.
I'm not really interested in American movies, although indies can be be good.
For instance, seeing Jonah Hex is not on my dance card.
Although I will say, Brian de Palma is my favorite director of contemporary films.
