I work with this guy never had children so he took upon himself to treat this cat as the son he never had. He has actually two, both 5 y.o, the other one is female but he doesn't care about her. He said he only got her as a companion to the male cat.
The thing is, both cats have been together forever, and now he said he has the intention to get rid of the female cat. The male cat escaped the house and when he found him and tried to get him back inside, it got angry and bit him and scratched him badly. The guy got angry but he took it out on the female cat who was inside, and hit her with a stick a couple of times only because she hissed at him too. He told me this with a straight face and I got pissed at him.
Anyanimalabusingasshole, he said I could have her if I wanted to but it's been a while since I had a cat, and I already have a 4 year old dog, a female toy poodle. My deaf dog passed away two years ago, so this poodle has been by herself since then and has become really spoiled by me and and my family.
I've pet sat for that guy and I know both cats well. I think she's a cutie but I'm afraid she won't adapt to my house or get along with my dog. It also bothers me to think that I'd be taking this cat away from everything that is familiar to her.
I told him I couldn't take her but I'm still thinking about it. I don't know what to do, but it seems you and Zomay know a lot about cats, so I'd appreciate any advice that you may have. Thanks!

Awww, that is so cool! I love vets, they show you that it is not stupid to care as much about your pets as people. All creatures should be loved and protected.
I would do as much for my dogs. (can't have cats, little boy is allergic)
let me tell you I have dogs and cats, and all of them are angels...can't love one more than the other cause they are all love. Right now I am hangng with my one month old kitten born in a storm drain...and this angel is amazing, smart, friendly, sweet and just.... an angel. My doggie, who is ALL HEART found him for us and would not stop licking and grooming him...I am so freaking in love ..sorry to go on and on but critters do this to me...I become pure mush!!

THIS. I have 3 black cats ( Jezza, Ulele and Willow) and they are all very uncoordinated. Poor Willow always falls asleep on the computer and falls off.
Jezza always tries to jump on things and misses, falling on his butt.
The vet says they are okay, but I just can't help worrying about them.

I completely understand what you guys are going through.
My favorite kitty passed away this past March too. I found her in her favorite place, she went in her sleep.
I have one other kitty who is goofy and cartoonish. She was not happy being alone. Very co-dependent for a cat.
So anyways, I went to the shelter to have my dead kitty cremated. (I don't like to dig graves) While I was there, I saw a flyer for the other kitty and fell in love. You know how that is.

The local shelter is not charging adoption fees for cats 1 year of age and older owing to space constraints.

I had a black cat and one of her legs got broken or something happened to it and we had to get a metal plate put into it and then she started acting weird and disappeared. Cats always like to die alone so we assume she just ran off to die somewhere.
But I saved her life like 5 times. It was crazy.
