I wouldn't have guessed the first picture was him. He's working a Jason Wahler vibe there, (and I'm sad I remember JW's name).

If someone had shown me the yearbook picture, and asked me what went down years later with that guy's hair, I would have guessed he was bald by 30. But no! He was silver early.

I can't tell if he looks older because his particular shade of silver is very white (instead of a Clooney look), or because his face is more weathered.

Come to think of it, that threw me too, because the first guy looks swarthier, like he'd be taken into custody if he drove a gold and green SUV, but clearly John is fair-skinned, which probably contributes to a few additional lines. I think it's good for his role on the show, though, because people look younger now at 48 than they used to. I find his commitment to adult status comforting, even if I can't replicate it.
