Everybody from a Z-list reality star on a show you've never heard of to an extra in Transformers 3 has tried to reach for relevancy by giving their opinion on anti-gay bullying and suicides in America, but they can all put their arms down because Madge is at the mic now and nobody can push out a quote that makes hos flip like she can. Case in point: On The Ellen Degeneres Show today, Madge said that we must stop the bullying and stop the gossiping (cut to me calling my mom from a pay phone outside of the unemployment agency to ask her if I can move into the spare room in her garage)! And then Madge compared gay bullying to the lynching of black people and the Holocaust. Yeah, you go put the Jiffy Pop on the hot plate while I keep your seat warm.

Madge on why she's speaking out against bullying: "Well, I just feel it would be incredible remiss of me to not say something. I'm incredibly disturbed and saddened by the overwhelming number of teen suicides that have been reported lately because of bullying. Suicide in general is disturbing. Teenagers committing suicide is extremely disturbing but to hear that teenagers are taking their lives because they are being bullied in schools and dormitories, what have you, is kind of unfathomable. I know a number of people have spoken out about it but I feel like I need to say something. The gay community has been incredibly supportive of me. I wouldn't have a career if it weren't for the gay community...I have a teenage daughter and I have ongoing discussions with her about this topic so I feel like I need to say a few words..."Madge on how bullying teens is out of control : "The concept that we are torturing teenagers because they are gay. It's kind of like I said earlier. It's unfathomable. It's like lynching black people or Hitler exterminating Jews. Sorry if I'm going on a rampage right now but this is America. Madge on how she wants to put my ass out on the street!: "I think it would be interesting for everybody to try one simple experiment. I also feel like you'd feel about better about yourself.
And in case you're wondering if she said this from the drawing room of her English country estate shortly after telling her maid that she shant have another crumpet since she doesn't want to gain another stone, look at the still in the video above. She said it from America! She's American now!
You know, correct me if I'm wrong (get your red Sharpies out), but I don't think she was blatantly comparing bullying to genocide. I think she meant to say that like Jews and black people, gay teens are being harassed because of who they are and many people look the other way. I think that's what she's saying. Well,the thing about bullies is this: They are EVERYWHERE and you have to learn how to deal with them.
Also, this is something I had forgotten all about and just remembered the other day.
Long story short, I had a lesbian stalker at boarding school who I rejected as nicely as someone possibly can and she attempted suicide during Thanksgiving break. No one at our school ever bullied her in the two months she was there, because it was a nice liberal place full of freaks and no one cared. If anything I was a victim of her creepy stalking. I was really cool about it when she came out to me until she started with the gifts and love letters and accusations that I was a closet case because I didn't want to have a relationship with her.
Anyway, I'm glad this happened in 1987 because if it happened today I'd be blamed for her suicide attempt and lynched.
I'm sure some kids get bullied, but some kids are suicidal anyway.

Most (well the ones that I know of) bullies from junior high/high school ended up marrying early, having a bunch of kids, getting fat, and had their "looks" completely disappear by age 23.
My boy hasn't had a problem with bullying, but he did mention a kid that isn't very nice to anybody. I told him that from what I remember all the people who were bullies in school also had troubled home lives, whether it was alcoholism, abuse, neglect, or all of the above. I also said this isn't an excuse for that type of behavior, but there are reasons why people can be shitheads (okay, I didn't use that word, but it fits) to other people and if anybody is like that to him to think about how worse off they have it. I can't remember the name of the movie, but it had Elijah Wood as a kid and he was being bullied by this family of poor kids. Kevin Costner was his dad and they saw this family at the store/pharmacy/whatever. He bought the bully kids ice cream and Elijah's character got mad and said, "Why did you give our ice cream to THEM?" and his dad said, "because it looks like they haven't been given anything in a long time."
