Got A Peen? Well, You Won't Be Interviewing Portia de Rossi Then
Portia Lee James de Rossi DeGeneres (that sounds like I'm ordering a light wine and a frozen pizza) has made the host of Australia's Sunrise show David Koch scream "SEXISM! SEXISM! SEXISM!" after she told producers that she would rather talk to his female co-host about her new book than him. WILL SOMEBODY THINK OF THE RICH WHITE MEN?!!!
In Portia's book, she writes about her battle with anorexia and how she came to terms with the fact that loving labia is in her nature, so maybe this is why she prefers to talk to the ladies. Portia also refused to talk to Fox FM's Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, but it's David Kroch that is throwing up his arms about her NO PEEN policy.
David Kooch tells The Herald Sun (via News.com.au) that in his 8 years of talking to people on TV, he has never once been turned down for an interview because he's a dude. David Kock went on to explain how he feels,"If a male said I don't want to be interviewed by a woman, there would be a massive outcry of discrimination. Obviously she has got issues and I feel quite sorry for her...I admire what she and Ellen have done for community tolerance and inclusiveness. But it is a real contradiction for what she stands for, which really surprises me. Maybe she is uncomfortable with men, but she plays opposite male leads."
Or maybe Portia is so afraid that locking eyes with David via satellite will awaken animalistic desires in her loins. But seriously, coming from someone who was raised by women only, it might be hard for me to talk about important things in my life (examples: peen, dick, wang, dong, schlong, etc....) to a straight dude. To make this about myself a little bit so that people can relate...
I admit, I've been teased mostly by males so...yes, I do prefer female company but that doesn't mean that I hate men or don't find myself romantically interested in them. Yes, I am very uncomfortable and mistrusting toward men initially but I've met many who were good people, I've met some I've felt attracted to, and I've met some I hated.
Very few girls picked on me growing up. There was a point when I was in eleventh fucking grade and an entire boys' Gym class came out and started barking at me like a dog, for everyone else to see. Guys have "set me up" with their unwitting friends just to see their reactions. I've been the subject to many cruel pranks, jokes, and other humiliation by males throughout my life, so if being cautious makes me a misandrist, then so fucking be it.
On the other hand, I used to think that feminism was bogus up until a few years ago when I actually realized that, becoming familiar with that philosophy, it wasn't all about hating men and that it's still a very valid way of thinking.

Finally on topic: I refuse to feel pity for a rich girl who has it all. I have a life of my own which is way more miserable than hers, so why is she playing the princess? If she's got issues to talk about her problems, she shouldn't have written a book about them. Maybe it's a marketing strategy, but to me it's plain stupid like most biographies simply are. When David Koch first appeared as a host on morning TV he was great. He was more laid back than previous hosts of the Australian early morning TV show Sunrise. It was refreshing to have a more relaxed host and he endeared himself to many viewers. I, along with many others, found him warm, charming and quite funny.
Now, I cannot stand him. He is too laid back. He is not impartial to a lot of the stories on Sunrise. He is always voicing HIS opinion which is often sexist and dated. He makes crude (sexist jokes) which are cringeworthy and often offensive (to women generally).
The two female co-hosts of Sunrise grin and bear a lot of what Koch (nickname Kochie, pronounced Koshie) says. They tolerate him and often have to cover his arse and make light of the offensive things he says!

I wouldn't blame a guy for not wanting to talk about struggles with impotence, testicular cancer, etc. with a woman interviewer.
I think Portia feels very fragile about these issues and wants to feel safe and not like she has to be on guard with an interviewer who sounds like he might make light of it.
I just can't muster up any sympathy for this woman. Most actresses, and a lot of regular women, have jumping-jacked down anorexia avenue. She's managed to have a fairly successful career and hasn't been pigeon-holed into lesbian roles -- ice queens, maybe, but she does those so well. Her freaking wife has a talk show that is very popular, and obviously she's gotten free publicity there. This guy was gonna do what, a 5-minute interview with her? Fucking do it, Portia. If it doesn't turn out the way you want, I'm sure Ellen will accomodate you speaking out about it on her show.
