Well, This Happened Last Night
In keeping with this morning's theme of random as a guinea pig waterobics class, here's 49-year-old Jim Carrey leaving a Broadway theater last night with 24-year-old Anchal Joseph after watching Time Stood Still together. You know Anchal as one of the contestants on America's Next Top Model 7 whose soul was sucked into Ty Ty's globehead of fear about halfway through the competition. It looks like Anchal's soul managed to crawl out of Ty Ty's nostrils and dust the SMIZE off itself, because she's back! Somewhere Ty Ty has started a wave of eye rolls around her by saying, "You know when I was a young Indian girl who held hands with Jim Carrey while wearing a rose-colored dress in NYC in January..."
I'm not even going to try to figure out how, when or why this happened. My guess is that Jim Carrey attached himself to the first young pretty girl who doesn't violently attack strangers when she thinks she smells antigens in their veins.

Like it's surprising that she is a fug. She was on ANTM, most of those girls are fug. "Some" is an understatement. I would say almost all Asian women don't want to have darker skin. Skin lightening is a huge multibillion dollar industry out there.
As for Anchal Joseph, by Indian standards, she is what my Indian family would call "low average" in terms of looks (not skin color, though it is no secret that lighter is more desirable to Indians).

I rock the pale because I'm nearly albino. I had a mole biopsied at 23 and was told I have a 100% chance of skin cancer. I started my pale look in the 80's and was told for years in the summer I looked like shit. I worked with a man from Africa who was very surprised by this story. He thought any kind of white skin was good. Why are all of we human beings so fucking stupid?

That happens everywhere. My best friend's mother was Japanese and she was like that. But my grandmother was from Mexico, Spanish though, and would never go outside without wearing long sleeves (even in the summer) because lighter skin meant you were wealthier (and Spanish, not Mexican and therefore white). No matter what part of the world, some how it's the norm that lighter skin some how makes you better. Weird that.
Look at how this chump is smiling for no reason, like having his picture taken somehow makes him relevant. The way he craves attention, it's impossible for me to like him. There is some fucked up logic in India where darker skinned women are looked down upon. Whereas lighter skinned Indian women are idolised. Ever seen those Bollywood actresses? There is a big market of skin creams that apparently make your skin lighter aimed specifically at Indian women. It’s all something to do with class divide or some shit like that.

Koopa, I worked with an Asian woman who emigrated to the US when she was a teen. I cannot remember exactly where she was from but my foggy memory tells me Cambodia. She told me that Asian woman are regarded in much the same way, in matters of skin color. She claimed that where she was raised, women went to great lengths to cover their skin when outside, in order to avoid any smidgen of tanning to occur. Poor women, of lower socio-economic classes, worked outside doing manual and menial labor which resulted in tan skin. Wealthy women did not have to be outside doing anything they didn't want to do and as a result could keep their skin as pale as possible. Having any amount of a tan meant that you are of a lower class. The lighter the skin, the more money the woman was likely to have and the more money she has, the prettier and more desirable she will seem.
My friend, when she first moved to the US, was amazed at how American women will bake themselves in the sun to get as dark as possible. I think that is a bit different now but she was referring to the early 80's, before skin cancer was invented. She learned that the exact opposite is true in North America and that the wealthy were more likely to be tanned than the less financially fortunate. The wealthy had the time to lay about sun-worshiping and were able to jet off to warm locales in the winter. Their mid-winter tan was a sign of extra cash and of good health, at least before tanning beds were in widespread use and everyone had a mid-winter tan, rich and poor alike.
