So Much For That Defamation Case

When the woman at the wrong end of John Galliano's alleged (at the time) anti-Semetic cunt rant told Europe1 that he called her a "dirty Jew face" during a bar fight of words, part of me figured that maybe the booze mixed with his evil villainess accent caused shit to be lost in translation. Maybe he called her a "purdy poo face" and her ear holes translated it differently. But nope, leave it to a camera on a cell phone to pull the wool off of a cunt. The Sun posted a video taken a week before Galliano's latest serenade to Hitler got him suspended from Dior. The video was taken at the same bar in Paris, but this time Galliano goes after two Italian girls and a dude sitting next to him. In case your ears don't want a spoon full of Mel Gibson in the morning, here's what came out of Galliano's mouth in the clip above:

"But I love Hitler. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be fucking gassed. You're ugly.

The man who filmed this says that Galliano was sitting by himself and quickly started throwing in his own comments about their conversation. The man went on to say, "We were stunned by what Galliano was saying, but then he started making vile anti-Semitic comments. His words were disgusting. He made it clear the Italian girls weren't welcome and should go home. This was pure racism."

Galliano can liquefy that defamation suit he was planning on filing and use it as lube, because he's pretty much fucked now. There's already people screaming shit like: "But he's wasted!", "But he's high!", "Put him in rehab, force him to hug a yarmulke and everything will be alright!" Yeah, so it's totally okay that Galliano's idea of a hot night is dressing like "if Eva Braun was an Andrews Sister" to heil Hitler with his tongue out in public. And yeah, I'm sure Hitler would've invited Galliano over for Swastikatinas to gab about fashion, boys and how they can redesign the armband for the modern day Nazi. Hitler would never gas a gay.

And I've never noticed this before, but Galliano's moustache does look like an anorexic version of the Hitler stache.

Interesting that you say that. A lot of my friends and acquaintances who went to the U. S. as exchange students have had totally different experiences. They were 'greeted' with 'Heil Hitler' and asked unbelievably stupid questions as 'Where does Hitler live now?' and 'Do you still celebrate his birthday?'. And the dumbest and most appaling shit I get to read about the Nazi era and people mocking its victims is on American websites.
Still, I do not to generalize and think that all Americans are brainless assholes without an education. I also don't come here - unlike a lot of other people - and claim that 'the French are all anti-Semites'.

What it all boils down to is that every country has their sick assholes and no country is really in the position to point fingers. We all have blood on our hands.

I'm not excusing his behavior by any means but I have noticed in countries unlike the US, it seems acceptable to spout shit like this. Granted I don't think you could ever say it in France or Germany but it seems like there are a few places that could give a shit about WWII (and even a few that don't think it happened, or that it was okay because they were Jews). In the US we grow up learning from a young age on a yearly basis about the Holocaust. We have survivors speak to us, we read the Diary of Anne Frank, etc, and when I was 10 we had to watch Schindler's List for school. I mean it's ingrained in us so it's shocking when we hear anti semetic talk. Judging by some comments around here the last few days it seems like it's only a few countries that take this seriously though. I don't know it time is just taking it tolls or if some counties are still impacted by it or what, but it's very curious indeed.

Circumcision is mutilation and it should be against the law as it is with female circumcision. I am sure it will happen soon.

No, it's not. Male circumcision enhances sexual pleasure and prohibits disease, whereas female "circumcision" destroys any sexual pleasure and creates serious, life-threatening health issues.

You're absolutely right, most Israelis are not religious. The religious Jews live in their own neighborhoods like Meah-Shearim in Jerusalem or Bnei-Brak in Tel-Aviv. All the rest of Israelis drive their cars on Shabbat (but they wouldn't dare to drive on Shabbat in a religious neighborhood), and lots of Israelis eat pork which all of them buy at Arab shuk (market).
And Israeli guys are GORGEOUS!____________________________

My bro-in-law is from tel aviv. my sister-in-law has asked if we would want to go back to israel with them in a year or two. heck yeah i said! my husband has no interest at all! but i have two neices now and they have family over there and i would love to know more and besides, i just like traveling.

CoconutCoochie's picture

@dlaugher

thanks for the explanation.
I had the feeling it was open-minded like that, I'm working for this family, the mother once told me they were Unitarian, and as they are quite the educated/progressive type, I'm not surprised they would be into that kind of thing.

Somebody once told me about the whole Quaker thing and it really made me very curious.

As far as I'm concerned I don't think I'll ever chose something traditional as my husband won't even tolerate the mention of God. He's just allergic to religion!

ACK, we've taken over the board! oh well, everyone else is over on OP.

when we were first married, my husb. refused to have a tree. then when we had our first kid, he kind of gave in after a few years. We would always celebrate Xmas with my family though. now, he likes having a tree and we decorate (me and the kids do), but never the outside of the house. he is still very squeamish over all the presents (my sister and mom go crazazy with the prezzies). his hannukkahs were not like that at all.

we celebrate hannukkah too--we light candles and say the prayer and play dreidel. we exchange presents with my husband's family. we try to share hannukkah with friends. the kids love the candles and dreidle (gambling! gelt!) and donuts. i always try to have a menorrah in the window too. i'm sure my neighbors are very confused.

i've resigned myself to taking the "religion" that comes with passover. i haven't been to high holidays in a while. and i would never consider a bar mitzvah for my kids. i think biblical education is helpful though. my boss used to tell her kids it was mythology. ha!

unitarian-universalist has a long history that i'm still learning about. it does have roots in the christian church, but i think somewhere in the last century it finally broke with christianity. it's a "church," but it is made up of people from all backgrounds and beliefs. sometimes we sing hymns and talk about religion. i never heard of it growing up. i guess emerson and john adams and other famous people were "uus."

when you have kids and if you feel like they should be raised in a tradition of morals and education, you might want to check it out.

from wiki

Unitarian Universalism is a religious community characterized by support for a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning."

I'm pretty inflexible and determined about what I want and don't want, so I'm not crazy worried, but enough to make me concerned.
It's just that, for the first time in my life, I feel different and not really accepted for who I am, and it's a strange feeling.
Overall I'd say I don't have relationship issues with them, especially now that we're married they kind of had no choice but to tolerate me.
My husband is the only one of his siblings who has always been against religion, and refuses to go to synagogue, so the good thing is, we pretty much agree on what we want for our kids.

I wish there was a way to only take the Jewish cultural/language/background without the religion, the issue is, it's all entangled.
I like to be part of the holidays, as you said the food is my favorite thing about being married to an Israeli guy, and I would love for him to speak Hebrew to our children as I think it's an incredible language, not to mention it's always a plus to have your children speak several languages.

My in-laws are definitely not ultra religious, thing is, they're part of that first generation of Jews who were born in Israel after the state was created, and they're just pretty hardcore about their roots. My mother in law is the issue, my father in law is a tyrant, but he doesn't really care about that.

What exactly is Unitarian? Is it related to Protestant church at all?

My mother in law is beyond depressed that my husband chose to marry 'outside of his faith' and I know she's gonna give me a hard time with the kids.
She basically said that if we have children, they will be "nothing", meaning they won't technically be Jewish.

For the record my in laws are Israeli, I'm in big trouble!!
________________________________________________________
You'll be fine, as long as your husband has your back.
i have an israeli brother-in-law. he is always telling us that most israeli's aren't religious.

a lot of jewish people believe that there is no such thing as a "half jew." well, screw them. she can be sad or whatever, but you guys need to figure out what's important to you to teach your kids. i'm not jewish, so maybe that's easier for me to say. i can relate to how she feels, but i just don't care anymore about religion really. we're unitarian now! and loving it.

my advice, if you care, would be to suss out what you can get away with with your inlaws. first, jewish culture welcomes discussion and argument, so don't be afraid. second, israelis are like russians or new yorkers. they bark, but you can just bark back! 3rd, it is fun to be a kid and celebrate different things. your inlaws will probably be happy if you celebrate passover dinner with them and maybe go to high holidays. maybe even a jcc for day care when the time comes (if you can afford it!).

the other great thing about having israelis in the family is that the hebrew at passover is not excruciating (as it used to be before the israeli joined my husband's family). and the food is great! (at least, my brother in law's is!)

CoconutCoochie's picture

Looks like our situations are quite similar.
My husband also doesn't care, he actually is quite against circumcision as
1/he thinks it's mutilation and you can't make that decision for your child
2/he's convinced that circumcized (sp?) dudes are missing something in terms of sexual sensations.

I used to think that I was ok with it, that, if it really mattered, I would have my baby boy have a bris... that was until I actually went to a bris and the whole experience made me sick (physically and emotionally!), now I can't imagine doing that to my baby.

I'm also more interested in Judaism than he is, but I can't say conversion is an option for me as I grew up in a very secular environment and being non religious is really part of who I am.

My mother in law is beyond depressed that my husband chose to marry 'outside of his faith' and I know she's gonna give me a hard time with the kids.

Please tell!
I'm in a similar situation, and at this point we're really praying to have girls.
Did your in-laws try to talk you into conversion at all?----------------

My in-laws and husband never tried to get me to convert. I'm probably more interested in Judaism and his culture than my husband is. When i was pregnant with my first boy, i told my husband if it was important to him religiously, i would consider circumcising. He said he didn't care. i told him to tell his parents. all was well until about 2 weeks before my due date and my mother in law (who had converted) started freaking out and wrote me a letter with arguments for circumcision. i spent a lot of time talking to people and researching and i found most arguments lacking. There are also a small group of Jews who argue against circumcision. HOWEVER, it is really freaking ingrained! my husband talked to a rabbi who said god didn't really care what your schlong looked like. but, so many of our non religious jewish male friends have FREAKED OUT when they found out our kids are not circumcised. i just figure, if my kids want to do it, yes it will be more of a big deal to do when they are older, but i don't want to make that decision for them.

Figure out what YOUR position is, then stick to it.

my favorite argument: boys will stare at them and give them a hard time in the locker room.

i asked my brother about this (my parents were British, so they didn't circumcise my brothers) and he said, if anyone looks at your dick in the locker room and comments on it, everyone will think they are gay. no one ever bugged me.

Saying you like Hitler is not a jewish slur. Telling someone hitler would have gassed them for being ugly is not a jewish slur.

Hitler was after gays, jews, blacks, and everyone that breathed, that includes Galliano. This is the drunken rantings of a sad hateful little man, but the mere mention of Hitler doesn't make it anti-semetic...
---------------------------

Yes, while Jews suffered in large numbers, they were not the only ones. Hitler was into the whole Master Race thing, a genetic ideal constructed in his mind (and the mind of others). If he was being really efficient about it, he would have gassed himself.

Galliano was barking at some Italian women and trying to insult their appearance. If he was bored and trying to bring some drama into his life, he certainly accomplished that.

Backstage at Milan Fashion Week, Giorgio Armani talks to The Telegraph about the modern-day pressures on designers and that he's sorry to hear the recent Galliano news.
Speaking through a translator, the Italian fashion designer said he was sorry that John Galliano had been video taped without his knowledge and added that it was obviously a difficult time for him.

Jesus. You guys are making me make a serious post. Alright, here we go.

So disappointed that Galliano turned out to be either an anti-semitic douche or a troll. I didn't care either way about Mel Gibson when his hateful fuckery first came up but I actually like Galliano's work.

As for Galliano's right to spout whatever uninformed, hateful bullshit that he has, I believe he has it, yet. That doesn't mean that we have to like it and we too have the right to speak our mind about why we think Galliano is full of shit. That's how freedom of speech works. Can't fucking stand the bliss ninnies who don't know the difference between criticism and censorship.

I don't think he should be jailed by it; as long as it's not mass incitement to violence or grave defamation of character (the kind that can jeopardise your job, for example) I don't believe in criminalising speech. I don't think any of us seriously do so. I do think that if he was bothering patrons at the bar he should have been kicked out, celebrity status be damned, and perhaps a slap on the wrist for public intoxication/upsetting the peace if it was the case and if that was an offense wherever he did it.

I also believe that entitled celebrity divas should get the death penalty. Off with their heads, I say.

The things people say when they're drunk are the things they believe.

I don't know John Galliano and I don't give a rat's ass about him, but sounds more like he's a drunkard wishing to stir shit and ventilate his frustration than someone who actually believes in Hittler's stupid ideals. I could be wrong, tho.

I think he should own his shit and STFU. In a world with free speech people have to understand that it doesn't mean we wan say whatever the fuck we want with no consequences. It means we can say whatever we want, but we have to own it when what we say offends or is not liked by someone else. So if this stupid drunk is offending random people at bars, he should expect to be outed as a dumbass and yeah, fired by his boss for being stupid enough to start verbal fights with strangers. Didn't he get the memo that we live in a "LOOK AT ME AND WATCH ME ON YOUTUBE!!" world?. Everyone films everything today and go off by uploading said videos on the internet. I bet these people got an orgasm knowing they filmed John Galliano being a drunken mess THEMSELVES.

And a bitch please to those idiots who think their race or ethnic group is much better than everyone else. We, all humans, suck the same.

Lastly, I assume this freshfacestripper person is yet another alt-account used to make people steam by another person from here. Meh.
