DJ AM Died Of An Accidental Overdose
The New York City Medical Examiner has ruled DJ AM's cause of death as an accidental drug overdose. They added that in their opinion he didn't commit suicide.
The toxicology report shows that a bunch of drugs were found in his system at the time of his death. A shit load, actually. A Paula Abdul-load. You get the picture.
The M.E. said they found cocaine (crack or powder), OxyContin, Xanax, Vicodin, Ativan, Benadryl, Klonopin and Levamisole (a drug used to cute cocaine). The M.E. wouldn't say whether or not DJ AM had any prescriptions for the stuff found in his system.
The full report will not be released to the media.
Blink 182's Tribute To DJ AM
Blink 182 dedicated their show in Hartford, CT last night to their friend DJ AM who passed away a couple of days ago. They took a moment of silence and later handed out his CDs to the crowd.
Earlier in the day, Travis Barker, who survived a plane crash with DJ AM, Twittered his feelings:
"Don't know how I am gonna play 2night but I am for AM. My brother is gone. I love u and miss u, I'll never forget all the good times we had.I'll never forget everything we've been through and every time I play the drums, I'll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being.
Rest in peace, my brother. This really fucks me up."
DJ AM's cause of death is still not known. His autopsy was completed on Saturday, but the results were inconclusive. The Medical Examiner's office in NYC needs to do more tests and said that it could take several more weeks before they can officially rule a cause of death. Why does it feel like we're always waiting around for toxicology reports? This is not how anyone wanted to spend their summer.
There are several reports going around that the cops found a crack pipe in his room and also a bag of crack in his sweat pants, but none of that has been confirmed.
It's DJ AM's Turn To Sue
Travis Barker already filed a lawsuit against people he claims were at fault for the plane crash that left with him burns and killed two of his friends. DJ AM has followed his lead and filed his own lawsuit in Los Angeles yesterday.
TMZ says DJ AM is suing the estates of the two pilots who died in the crash as well as Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation, Inter Travel & Services Inc, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, and Learjet.
In his lawsuit, DJ AM claims when the pilots reached takeoff speed, they knew shit was going down after one of the tires blew out. Instead of taking off, the pilots decided to quit the takeoff, causing the plane to crash and burst into flames. The suit says this was a bad decision made by the pilots.
DJ AM wants cash money for pain, suffering, lost earnings, property damage, punitive damages and past and future health-related expenses. Shit. I got tired just typing all that shit he's suing for.
Damn. I can understand suing companies and shit, but suing the estates of the pilots? I wonder if the pilots left behind any kids that need food, clothes and a roof over their heads. It seems a little extreme to try to fuck with the families, but I don't know the details and shit, so I will leave it at that.

Travis Barker And DJ AM Expected To Make A Full Recovery
Dr. Fred Mullins of the Augusta, GA's Joseph Still Burn Center held a press conference this morning to give an update on Travis Barker and DJ AM's injuries from Friday's plane crash that killed 4 people.
Dr. Fred said the two are expected to make a "full recovery." He said they both suffered second and third degrees burns. He added that it can take up to a year to recover from such burns but the two didn't suffer any other type of injuries. He went on to say that Travis was burned on his torso. DJ was burned on his hands and part of his head. Dr. Fred would not say what percentage of their bodies were burned or if they were conscious. He also said they should be able to return to performing once they have recovered.
Given the circumstances, this is good news.
During the press conference, Dr. Fred read a statement from the families:
“The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern. Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families and friends is requested at this time.”
