QOTD: Jane Fonda's Biggest Regret In Life
The Daily Mail has a way too long article on Jane Fonda's second husband Tom Hayden, a left-wing activist who made her give up her fancy ways to fight the cause or some shit, and in it they include a priceless quote she apparently said at a feminist rally.
"My biggest regret is I never got to fuck Che Guevara."
Che Guevara?! The famous t-shirt model? Why in Urban Outfitters clearance rack hell would she want to fuck that?
No, Jane must be talking about Che from that Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Evita. Jane, you not-knowing tramp, Che was just a character in a musical played by Mandy Patinkin! But if you really need it like that, I'm sure Mandy would be nice enough to bring that fantasy to life for you. Dust off your coochie, pull out your pussy beret and make your dreams come true.
And since it's Labor Day, I will do some labor for you by posting your official response to this:
You can also dub Dan's voice with the word "Michael" instead of "Jane" and it works just as well. Thank you.

Jeyi: Che was a killer and a socialist. Get the fuck over it. Different opinions hurt your ass?

I love Jane Fonda. She was a dumb bitch in the 70s, but I find her endearing. I am glad lots of US soldiers died because she took a picture in a tank. Oh wait, they didn't? They were killed by the Vietnamese, not Jane Fonda or a fucking photograph? Ok then. Get the fuck over it. Waaah. It was 40 fucking years ago. If anything, and you simply MUST go there, I think there are surely people more deserving of scorn and hatred. I never hear anybody rip into LBJ like they do this inconsequential ho. Scapegoaty retards. Place your PTSD blame where it really lies, not on Ms. Desperate-For-A-Man Exercise Queen.

I love this site because it's so funny, but I don't think any of you know what you're talking about. Che Guevara was not a killer, just a socialist. He was a part of the Cuban Revolution, although the Cuban revolution has strayed a lot from what it was originally and Che's vision. I guess y'all think just putting a "terrorist" or whatever stamp on him is going to make you feel better since the CIA assassinated him. We all know how great those guys are! You know, training Al-Qaeda and doing shady stuff like that.
Anyway, I respect your right to your own opinions, but I don't think I will come back here.
==============
Maybe you're already gone, which is too bad because this is a great site.
If you read through all of the comments, you'd see that they went from applauding Jane to denouncing her to just plain cracking on her; likewise Che Guevera. It's not really fair to characterize the whole site based on this thread.
Anyway, hope you wander back, at least to read MK's posts, which is what draws and keeps most of us here in the first place.

Not shocking that she finds Che interesting, stupid cunt. I live to watch her day a ugly, long death and following that to shit on her grave. The damage she did to myself and my friends is unforgivable.

Yes. It was based on a Daphne du Maurier story. Memorable for the creepiness and for the sex scene.

We still haven't learned in this country that protest and disagreeing with war is OK,is part of democracy and is also patriotic….what incenses me is assholes like Cheney etc blithely sending 19 year olds off as cannon fodder-how about we see HIS daughters go and fight….

Co-sign Zorba-da-Greek's comment. Self-righteous pass-around pussy who always just hooked herself onto powerful men and did whatever they wanted while claiming to be a rebel
--------------------------------------
Ya know, the more I look at this statement, the more true it rings. I like her and all, but she was and is the quintessential 'Hollywood liberal'. As in, it's really easy to be self-righteous and judgemental when you have a skewed concept (some might say NO CONCEPT) of reality.
I don't do politics, so I can't pass judgement on Che's moral character, but he WAS a hot piece. I can see how hooking up with him could've been exciting in the context of the hippie-dippie swinging 60s.
That said, I think Jane Fonda is a GREAT actress (I LOVED her in Nine-to-Five and Barbarella and many others), and some of her exercise videos were quite effective. She can help me shape my buns, but am I going to let her shape my mind and soul? Heck no.
I think we (not US, but society and the media) put way too much weight on what Hollywood people think and say.

why is there not a strict law stating that Jane Fonda cannot open her yap, and speak/write to the public?

Thanks to A. cotw and Bjork I am no longer afraid to say that I love Donald Sutherland. Even in 'Dirty Sexy Money' he was still by far the hottest man.

Ah, Ché Guevara. Every pothead I hung out with in college had his face on a wall tapestry hanging in the apartment. Not sure they knew who he was, but they sold those tapestries in head shops so I naturally assumed Ché Guevara was a man who tried to Free the Weed.

I lurve Donald Sutherland.
Have you seen "Eye of the Needle"? It's one of his lesser known gems, and one of my favourite films of all time. It's moody, tense, atmospheric; Donald has a nude scene, and Kate Nelligan's performance is jaw droppingly brilliant.

I've never warmed to the offscreen, mouthy Jane; but I loved her in Klute (side-swoon for Donald Sutherland) and Barbarella (just plain fluffy fun).
=============
I love "Klute," too (her character's name was Bree, right?). Donald Sutherland is underrated, in my opinion. Where was his fucking Oscar? What was that creepy movie that he made with Julie Christie in Venice, the one with the dead kid? I don't feel like googling it, but it was good. I like Donald's overbite.
Shallow Hal here saying that I think Jane Fonda is gorgeous and a great fucking actress.
Regarding the war, I knew some folks who were in Vietnam, and they got screwed over by a government that found it more convenient to use them as puppets rather than as the celebrated protectors of democracy that that same government lauded for its own political purposes. There was no post-traumatic stress disorder then, and there certainly wasn't the rehab and openness about drug addiction that we now have. If you're in the city, you can probably still step over a few that have their hands out for change. What has stayed the same is that when these people return, they come back to a society that talks a lot but gives little in terms of needed support like decent hospitals, recovery, jobs, and other such benefits due heroes. And this shit cuts across party lines.
Some good films on that period or that touch on it: "Apocalypse Now"; "Coming Home" (cunnilingus scene!); "Cutter's Way" (Cutter is a vet); "Deathdream" (good old Bob Clarke retelling "The Monkey's Paw" using the war).
Okay, back to the silly: anyone remember Jane in the work-out days? Did you or your moms or your lovahs have those stupid headbands and unitards that come up way too high on the thigh? And then matched or "artfully" mismatched it with tights? And then threw on LEGWARMERS?
She married vile, chauvinistic men and then cried when they were vile and chauvinistic to her. They don't come any dumber than Jane.
I thought her biggest regret might be that bowl haircut.
I hear Chairman Mao was pretty wild in the sack.

My father is a Vietnam vet and he HAAAATES Hanoi Jane. With a passion. It's almost fun to mention her name (almost) to see him get all pissed off and ranty about it.
She is one fucked-up woman. Her father did a real number on her, and she's been so screwed in the head ever since. I remember reading that she used to have some special ankle massage aimed at getting rid of the fat (?!) in her ankles. As if her ankles were EVER fat.
I'm hoping that getting older has done some good things for her. I hope she's been a good mother. You don't hear bad stuff about her kids.
The only thing she's ever done that I respect is she tried to give Lindsay Lohan some advice when they worked on some film together. I think she really tried to help Lindsay (lot of good it did....)
Whenever I see Jane Fonda, I think of her real name "Lady Jayne." Her middle name is "Seymour." She is named after the one Henry VII bride to give him a son, Edward. I wonder if they called her "Lady." Her parents were in the forefront of giving goofy names to their kids.
I suggest you all read this http://www.therealcuba.com/page5.htm and a look at Humberto Fontova's book "Exposing the real Che and the Useful Idiots Who Idolised Him"
****
No offense, but those are both pretty biased sources. (Considering how many books are biased pro-Che, I suppose that's fair, but still.)
I thought John Lee Anderson's biography was excellent - you can tell he had a mancrush, but dude covered all the gory (and just stupid) details. Mass murderer? It's all there. But wait until you read about Che's mismanagement of the Cuban economy - now THAT is tragicomic. Anderson also covers the Bolivian campaign in detail; I believe his research led to the discovery of Che's body. It's a serious read, but if you want enough information to form your own opinion, it's worth the trouble. Che's own book, "Reminiscences of the Cuban Revolution," is also good. (But obviously biased.... though perhaps not as much as you'd think.)
Anyway, redvixen, while I totally think your point is valid and well made, I also think Felix Rodriguez (the guy who shot Che) is a famewhoring cunt, which makes it hard to believe his version of Che's death. Oh man. Every time that guy needs attention, it's another teary-eyed interview, and morbid souvenir - Che's last gun, Che's last cigar, Che's last watch, Che's last condom - what's next? I bet a Bolivian enlisted man shot him and that douchebag took the credit. Seriously. Anyway, so Jane Fonda wanted to fuck Che? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. That seems so out of character.
EDIT: Here's the link to the Anderson bio, with lots of reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Che-Guevara-Revolutionary-Jon-Anderson/dp/08021355...

For those of you who did not live through Cuba during Che and Fidel's heyday I tell you this. They didn't liberate shit!! Those motherfuckers had their own agendas. They killed everyone who opposed them and did follow into their "revolution". I had family members killed and jailed. Cuba is worse off now than ever before. They took everything from people, their houses, their money, their businesses, their lives. You couldn't fucking leave the island!

He also killed innocent people, especially ones who didn't want to conform to his way of thinking and ideology. He most certainly was not someone to be revered. Che was a cunt of the highest order. A spoilt bourgeois brat from Argentina that hid behind the veil of communist "freedom". He'd mercilessly murder anyone who he considered a threat ie teachers, professors and move into their large expensive homes. He begged for his life when the Bolivians finally captured him...his troops hated the prick.
GazingBeauty, you need to read a book, Che was a piece of shit.

Thanks. I didn't get good grades in high school and didn't think I would go to college. I assumed I would be drafted and die over there (I was a morose young man). The war ended a couple of years before I turned 18.
I have known many vets. Despite being trained to kill and sent to combat in a war zone, many of them have been tormented all their lives by things they saw and did over there.
We as a nation have forgotten the lessons of vietnam, and now we have at least two of them going right now, and maybe a couple more getting started. Those who professed to hate war are now in power in washington DC, and appear to no longer be troubled by pointless endless wars and the sacrifice of our children for reasons nobody can quite articulate.

Absolutely. You're living proof that grades aren't everything, because you have a brain on you. And a heart. Well done.
I really don't get the whole, "cool by sex association" thing.
