Robin Gibb Has Passed Away
After a two-year-long battle with colon and liver cancer, Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees died today at the age of 62. Robin had been in and out of the hospital in a couple of years, but things were sort of looking up recently when he recovered after coming out of a coma brought on by pneumonia. But a spokesperson for the Gibbs family said today that Robin's now hip shimmying with his twin brother Maurice in heaven and tickling the ears of the angels with his high-pitched velvet voice.
"The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."
Barry Gibb is now the only living member of the Bee Gees.

I'm very sad to see a big part of my favorite childhood (and adulthood) group pass away into the beyond. I remember my father covering my eyes as a child during more adults moments of Saturday Night Fever and me exiting out asking him if I could get the album of the boys who sang all the songs.

Say what you will but the man could SING. It's a sad day to have lost such a great singer song writer. The Bee Gees were a hell of a lot more than one Disco Album and while I was never a fan at that time over the past years I've revisited their music to realize just how good they really were, Robin especially. How Deep Is You Love has to be one of the nicest love songs going. RIP Robin, if there is a heaven surely you'll be up there with your brothers.

gucci, i've been there, it's horrible not being able to tell them what you know.
My nan would sometimes say things like 'i hope this works' or ' if this works we can go back to normal' and i just didnt have the heart to explain that it is not going to go away, and she was not going to get better.
It was horrible to go through but at the same i was closest to her during that time and as funny as it sounds i have a lot of good memories of that time.
Cancer does suck. My brother os stage four renal and lung right now and I feel like his drs are not being honest with him. The whole family is fucking pissed off bc the drs are talking about chemo and radiation "down the line" and we're like, down WHAT fucking line? He's going to die, don't you get it? Fuck cancer.

Yes it's true. My uncle is currently receiving treatment for lung and prostate cancer: he had prostate cancer some years back but it went into remission. My poor uncle. He doesn't know (or maybe knows but is in denial) that the reason he feels so good is because of the treatment he's receiving. I asked his oncologist to tell me the truth about his chances of beating it and he said they werent good. I don't dare tell my uncle what I was told.

Gucci, toxic, we had that same experience with my dad. He was gravely ill amd unconsciious and unable to communicate 95% of the time. The hospice nurse said patients often rally before they die. It's sad because it gives the families false hope. I remember thinking cynically when Robin came out of his coma that it meant that his time was up. He lasted a while after that though.
He's no longer suffering. There are things worse than death.
Robin Gibb was awesome.

Yeah i cared for my nan whilst she was suffering lung/brain cancer. A few days before she died she suddenly got her appetite back, had more energy and was even walking short distances on her own. Three days later she was gone.
It sucked because she never really understood that the treatment she had was to try to give her more time, not cure her. Its like it gave her false hope :(
Anyway she's the one who introduced me to The BeeGees, RIP Robin Gibb
I can't take it anymore, this is becoming the Summer of Death like we had several years ago. ughhhhhhhh!! :(
My sisters used to blast the Bee Gees as soon as my parents left for work in the morning when I was a kid.
I would wake up to Stayin Alive, be brushing my teeth to Night Fever, and eating my Trix to Jive Talkin...all while my sisters would be dancing around the house....

And that's the thing with terminal cancer. Just before you go you're suddenly charged with this bolt of energy. Before my dad passed my sister told me he was talking up a storm and was moving around a little trying to dance while she played music. A few days later he was gone. It was strange. And on that note fuck cancer straight to hell I can just imagine what poor Barry Gibb must be going through having to see all of his brothers die one by one and he being the only one left to bury them. Its one of the worst things anyone can go through trust. My cousins on my fathers side experienced all of it first hand: they all had to watch their fathers die of cancer (my uncles and grandfather) And they were the only ones left to bury them. Fuck cancer. I mean just fuck it.

I'm in Canada, which is a huge country (mostly uninhabitable, mind you), not the States.
I've been to Amsterdam and I absolutely loved it there. I've, also, been to Haarlem (not the one in New York). I was at some cheese farm, with windmills and delicious cheese, but I can't remember where. It had to be somewhere not too far from Haarlem. It was the first time I'd ever seen belted cows and they fascinated me.
