My 2 cents - introducing a new dog to a house where the cat has already been queen is tougher than introducing a new kittycat to a dog's habitat. Not that it cannot be done, it's just tougher.
Continued domestication of both animals seems to have affected the normal instinct to hate other OR it must have been some party!

Bendy,We have 2 black doxies now. One short hair and one long hair. This is the first time I've had black doxies. The short hair is now freezing (it's in the 80's) and wants to cuddle with Ruby the long hair. They are just too cute. Before them, I've had red short haired almost my whole life. I want one!!!!!! so bad but we do have a coyote/dog mix from the pound and Mr. is not up for 4 dogs. To be honest, it would be almost too much for me. I spend alot of time keeping things tidy. Mainly from the mix. She sheds more than any dog I've ever had. Well, I better stop.
I can feel people's eyes rolling:)
I lost "my little man" Oscar 4 years ago. He was a red, mini about 6-7 pounds. He WUVED me:(

Gobbler, I'd bring the dog to the shelter. usually they have a Test Cat - a cat that is too cool to be phased by dogs - and you bring your leashed dog into the room to see how he acts around cats. In our shelter, the room has plenty of well-known spots for the cat to get to in case she isn't comfortable with anything the dog does.
watching this video, I'm thinking the dog woke up earlier, but didn't want to disturb the cat, so he just lay there thinking "man, i'd like to get up and hit the potty, my neck has a crick in it, but this kitty is knocked out! well, i'll give her one more minute, and then...OKAY! here comes Dad...hey Dad? a little help here please? this cat is...is...what are you doing filming I need you to wake up this cat so i can go...you know......."

O.M.G. That is what it was exactly like! The women had the shades and diamond rings and the "clever" team apparel. Pleated and pressed khaki pants or shorts. Straw hats had the scarves around the brim. Normally, I would be like "whatever". But yesterday it just added to the aggravation. It was like every UT fan there was only there to be seen. Blah.

Ahahhaha! I just noticed that-I must need more coffee as well. I checked out petfinder-our local SPCA has all its cats on there. and so do the surrounding SPCAs-great to have them all in one spot.
I may have cried a little when I read a post about 5 adult cats who were sent by taxi to the SPCA. :(

I know when I was at UT, we took pride in the fact that Neyland Stadium was by far the biggest and loudest around. Good idea to skip the fair -- it was mobbed. The mobbed was mobbed! :) It was literally, shoulder-to-shoulder-elbow-to-elbow. Cah-ray-zee. I knew it was time to go when I was trying to make my way across from the corny dog stand to the fried chicken skin stand (don't judge me) and there was a TENSE STANDOFF between a paralyzed woman in a wheel chair and a mom pushing her baby in a baby stroller. I was expecting shanks to start coming out! So, my husband and I expect to go back sometime this week to spend our coupons! :)

Make sure you talk to the volunteers -- they should know whether the cat needs to go to a home with no pets, no kids, dogs only, cats only, yadda yadda yadda.
Unless your dog has shown aggression to cats, it should be absolutely no problem introducing the new kitty. Just a little patience and time. They'll probably become best buds!

Hey LaChaylo! I was at the UT v OU game yesterday. We were on the UT side and the fans SUCKED. They just sat there. Even from the *beginning* of the game! OU would be yelling trying to disrupt UT's offense... when OU was on offense, UT was like crickets. I am hoarse because I was the ONLY ONE cheering. It was so disappointing. Yeah, the team was disappointing, but the fans should be ashamed of themselves. It may not have helped, but when the team was down, the defense exhausted... the fans should've at least TRIED to be there for them.
I'm UT/OU neutral. Used to live in Oklahoma so I was a big OU fan. Now I live in Texas, so now I am a UT fan (but my heart still kinda' belongs to OU).
