Monti Franckowiak (FYI: That's a really hot name), the safety patrol advisor, says that Sable comes out right before the morning bell rings and comes out again when the afternoon bell rings. If it's snowing, Sable is out there watching the kids. If it's raining, Sable is out there and he doesn't even wear an umbrella hat. Sable's owner Tamara tells KVEW TV that Sable went out one day to look at the kids and he's been doing it every weekday ever since. All the crossing guards consider Sable a member of the team and all the students feel better knowing that he's watching them.

And with a hanging loose gut like that, Sable must be fixed. My cat Taylor, at the time, got a gut like that over time after we got his ass fixed. He wasn't nearly as awesome as Sable though. This made me smile. Gives black cats (who are the hardest to adopt) a good name. It also made me happy that the kids seemed nice to him. I still wish he wasn't an outdoor kitty - that's a busy street and there are lots of animals out there that would enjoy him for lunch. =0(
I tell my 2 kitties that they are "In for Life", especially when my older one gets too interested in the front door. Yes there are a lot of outdoor cats in the nabe. But this is a busy street and the train tracks are half a block away, so NO outside life for them.

I've always owned outdoor cats and lived on both busy and non-busy roads. Mah kittehs have all been smart enough to know when/where it was safe to cross. I'm not saying there aren't some stupid ones out there who get themselves hit, but by age 15, I'm pretty sure Sable is a safe pussy.
